Your Support Matters
The MISSION FUND of SUPC was founded in the 1970’s through the aegis of Rev. Robert Smith, now the late Pastor Emeritus for SUPC. Rev. Smith wished the church to remain oriented towards missional support, not reliant on an endowment for continued funding. The MISSON FUND was created for SUPC to always have this mandate and be able to follow through.
Schoharie United Presbyterian Church supports many missions in Schoharie, nationally, as well as around the world. Like any service or non-profit organization, we cannot do our work without your support. Members and others who attend worship on Sunday mornings frequently make donations then, but we accept gifts and support anytime!
Every organization has overhead costs, and ours are paying the pastor’s and secretary’s salaries, as well as plowing, mowing, cleaning, and the basics of heat and lights and water. Before we are able to fulfill our heart’s missional calling, we have to satisfy the overhead.
At SUPC, we are oriented toward mission, helping those in need, or granting individuals or groups the support they need to give assistance where God calls them. We have a Mission Fund whose purpose every year is to make grants to people and organizations who apply who are planning service projects where the goal is to “bring good news to the poor… proclaim release to the captives… recovery of sight to the blind…let the oppressed go free.” (Luke 4:18).
