Schoharie United Presbyterian Church is unique among many Presbyterian Churches, due to our ownership of St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, located behind the church property.
The Cemetery covers area of 13.6 acres and rich in the history of Schoharie, as many of Schoharie's earlist settlers are laid to rest here, dating back to the 1700s.
As caretakers of the cemetery, Schoharie United Presbyterian Church is responsible for maintenance, care, and selling of lots.
The Lutheran Cemetery Association, headed by Superintendent Donn Stanley, is charged with the oversight of the cemetery. The Trustees of the cemetery are the Schoharie United Presbyterian Church Session. Our current officers are Steve Fiero, President; Lacy Eddy, Secretary; and Todd Cipperly, Treasurer.
The Lutheran Cemetery Association Trustees approved the following fees, effective January 1, 2010:
Lots - (price includes corner markers)
Opening and closing
Foundations - 35 cents per square inch
Corner markers - $85.00 per set - if purchased separately.
There will be an $85.00 charge, if needed, when new foundations are installed or repaired on existing lots with no corner stones. This will be added to the cost of repairing foundations.
Outside contractors doing foundations or other work in the cemetery must meet or surpass our minimum standards and must be approved by the Superintendent at a cost of $50.00.
